KaHuna and Counselling strategies explained

Why counselling and KaHuna Body work?

Like most of us, I experienced a fair share of challenges and realized that life is not always a walk in the park.

At times I hit a roadblock and needed to reach out to find my way back to balance. While exploring my challenges in professional settings provided relief and insights, I often felt there was something missing to shift on a deeper level. Talking about issues did not support me sufficiently to make real and sufficient shifts, and at times it left me discouraged.

During my KaHuna bodywork training I realized the potential of this body work approach to nurture, release and shift not just on a physical, yet on an emotional and mental level as well. I started to work with people offering a combination of counselling and bodywork and the results were very encouraging.

KaHuna approach: KaHuna Bodywork is an ancient form of healing/massage, originating in Hawaii and supporting people through transitions, rites of passages, challenges and towards clarity and healing. The slow, deep movements allow for relaxation of the physical, emotional and mental body, creating a realm of nurture, calm and peace.

Hot Stones are often used to deepen the experience.

Counseling approaches: I am committed to hold a safe space, to listen attentively with unconditional positive regard and to ask relevant questions to evoke exploring a situation from different angles.

My counselling approaches focus on:

People Centered Therapy (attentive listening, non-judgemental attitude, holding a safe space)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy: Supporting understanding of the direct link between thoughts, behaviors and actions, and how to become more in control of the outcome.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy: Through mindfulness, practice to stay in the present moment, to accept the present moment and to commit to steps towards shift, change and healing.

Embodied Processing Therapy:

Understanding that body and mind are interrelated and that working with  our nervous system and all our emotions is central to create  lasting solutions by giving the mind and the body equal attention in the healing process.
